Profile

Your profile is where you can configure your contact method and notification rules. Both a contact method and a notification rule must be created to receive alerts. It is recommended to have both SMS and VOICE contact methods, with SMS as an immediate notification rule and a VOICE notification rule after a few minutes. This ensures that you are notified immediately, but still receive a phone call if you do not notice the alert.

Alert Status Updates

Enabling this option on your profile will send you an alert at the specified contact method if any alert that you are on-call for is altered by someone else other than you.

Stop Receiving Notifications

The best way to stop receiving notifications is to remove yourself from the escalation policy, schedule, or rotation that is placing you on-call.

More drastic options are available as well, but please use with care. These options include:

  • Replying with the word Stop to any SMS message from GoAlert. This will systematically prevent GoAlert from sending you any SMS messages. Essentially, this places the SMS contact method on our Do Not Call registry, and will disable your contact method,

  • On any voice call, you can enter 1 and then confirm your selection by entering 3. This will also place your voice contact method on our Do Not Call registry, and will disable your contact method.

For each of the above, the actions are specific to the contact method, and can be re-activated from your profile or if it is an SMS contact method, replying “START” to your GoAlert number that sends you alerts.

Reactivate a Contact Method

If you’ve registered for GoAlert’s Do Not Call registry and would like to start receiving notifications again, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Reply with the word Start to a GoAlert SMS message. Then navigate to your user Profile in GoAlert. Select the ellipsis next to the SMS contact method and choose Enable/Verify. Enter the verification code from your device into the GoAlert UI. After all these steps are complete, the contact method will be removed from GoAlert’s Do Not Call registry.

  • For voice reactivation, navigate to your user Profile in GoAlert. Select the ellipsis next to the voice contact method you would like to enable and choose Enable/Verify. GoAlert will call you with a verification code. Enter this verification code into the GoAlert UI. After all these steps are complete, the contact method will be removed from GoAlert’s Do Not Call registry.
